Pelvic Pain in Women

pelvic pain

As Women’s Health Month is drawing to a close, we want to encourage women to continue to focus on their health throughout the year. One key indicator of female health issues is pelvic pain (pain in the area below your belly button and between your hips). Pelvic pain is fairly common but can sometimes take years to properly diagnose. Historically, an ultrasound has been the first line of diagnosis, primarily due to cost. But an MRI delivers greater sensitivity and detail (see images below), which may lead to a quicker and more accurate diagnosis. In recent years, the cost of MRI has come down dramatically, making it an optimal choice. You may still pay a few extra dollars over an ultrasound, but the results could be worth it. Be sure to talk to your doctor about the best exam for you.

Pelvic pain may be a sign of:

  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine Fibroids
  • Scar Tissue
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Problems with the Digestive, Urinary or Nervous System

Symptoms of pelvic pain may include:

  • Cramping
  • Localized pain (sudden or slow-developing)
  • Pain aggravated by movement or exam

About Green Imaging

If your doctor determines that this exam is right for you, we can help, especially if your employer offers Green Imaging as a part of your health plan. We provide diagnostic imaging--including pelvic MRI--at a very affordable price. In fact, they may be part of your plan at $0 cost to you.

Your friends and family can use Green Imaging too. Even if we’re not part of their health plan, we can perform the scan at a very fair price—up to 60% less than what they’d pay with their own high-deductible health plan.
