Green Imaging is using AI to Perform Bone Density Assessment with Any Body CT
Green Imaging is collaborating with the first FDA Approved AI technology to quantitatively assess bone density from any body CT exam.
How does it work?:
- Bone density examinations are typically performed using DXA, but they can also be performed using a quantitative CT scan (qCT). This technology
avoids falsely elevated DXA related to bone spurs. This innovative technology may not require patients to undergo a new scan and allows doctors to use CT scans that are already ordered for other purposes to measure bone density. This means two scans in one! This test can be performed from a calcium score CT as well resulting in optimized testing for both cardiovascular risk and low bone density.
Benefits to this approach include...
• Eliminating additional radiation exposure
• Reducing screening costs
• Providing convenience for the patient
• The radiologist can additionally assess the vertebrae for loss of height on the CT, adding increased sensitivity not provided on a routine DXA
• Green Imaging can provide dual calcium score/ qCT bone density, screening chest CT/ qCT bone density and provide a doctor's order for these exams in many states
If your doctor orders a chest CT, calcium score CT, or CT of the abdomen or pelvis, discuss your need for a bone density evaluation as you can now have these tests performed together.
Did You Know?
- As 20% of women over age 50 have osteoporosis and 50% have low bone mass, getting a first scan around this age makes sense.
- Osteoporosis is increasingly recognized as a significant public health concern among the aging population.
- Nearly 43 million Americans are unaware of their severe bone loss and hidden spinal fractures, often experiencing body pain as a result.
