About Claire Harris
Claire grew up in Austin, Texas where she graduated from St. Edwards University with a BS in Biology and Environmental Science. She loves being able to help people find affordable, quality healthcare. It is difficult to navigate the healthcare system alone, and she likes being part of a mission-driven company that strives to help people when they need it.
Claire and her husband now live in Atlanta where they share their home with three dogs and two cats, along with a rotating menagerie of special needs foster animals.
What do you do for fun?
I dream of having my own small farm one day, but in the meantime, I am enjoying my giant garden where I grow much of our own food. I love learning new ways to use what we grow and have recently started making soap, salves, lotions, and tinctures using plants from the garden. I also teach nutrition and health education classes to kids and grownups and help set up community gardens.
What’s your favorite restaurant?
Casa de Luz in Austin
Do you have a favorite sports team?
My husband graduated from UT, so we are a Longhorn family!
Where would you go if you had an unexpected week off?
My husband and I love to travel and spent five years working and traveling abroad. I would go anywhere that I haven’t already visited.
What’s your favorite hobby?
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I play roller derby.
What is your favorite community service activity?
I love teaching kids about healthy food in learning gardens. It is so wonderful to see kids pull vegetables straight out of the ground and eat them…and love it!
